picture perfect...

Ok I've been reminded that I promised a photo update - specifically of Adilyn's 6 month photos.  SO...without further ado, I'm going to provide an update in pictures today...

Such a happy girl!

Starting to sit up on my own more..

Playing with my friend Riggins - little better than last time...but still may be a while before we play together...

Having fun with Daddy during my bath!

Taming the bangs after my bath

Finally get to sit at the table with Mommy + Daddy during dinner...no food of my own quite yet though.

All dressed up!

Just to get the full effect of the frills!

I'm so silly with Daddy!

halfway through the beginning...

Well, yesterday Ms. Adilyn reached her 6 month mark - half a year old already!! It's SO hard for Dan and I to actually grasp that she's been in our lives only 6 months, because we can hardly remember life without her.  To those Moms out there that have told countless expectant Mothers (probably including myself) that time just flies by...I now believe you.  I probably didn't believe you when you first told me; or when I was up every 2 hours through the night with Adilyn those first few weeks...but now I do.
Dan and I continue to be amazed at how quickly Adilyn has changed from a helpless 3lb 11oz girl, hooked up to monitors and tubes in the Hospital to a chunky (by her standards), chatty, friendly, happy 6 month old.  I didn't think it was possible, but I love her more than I could have even imagined when I first met her.

Adi is very busy these days...here's a glimpse into the joy we experience daily because of you, little one...
  • waking you up in the morning (because you're SUCH a good sleeper at night)
  • watching you stretch and slowly open your eyes - only to smile once you see our faces
  • feeling your warm little hands cling to me when i pick you up out of the crib since you're still kind of waking up
  • seeing you smile and usually hearing a little giggle as you bats her eyes at us while we change your diaper
  • 'wasting' time in the mornings while i cuddle with you - just because i can, before i HAVE to leave for work, even though i'm almost always 'late'
  • listening to you 'chat' and/or suck on your toys all the way to daycare
  • laughing as you arch your back as soon as you hear/see me start to unbuckle your car seat to bring you in to daycare
  • listening as a proud mama while the daycare ladies give me your report for the day. 9 times out of 10 '...oh she was great - happy, smiling and easy'.
  • rushing home just so we can spend time together playing
  • watching your eyes trace Cade's every movement around the living room - and reaching out to pet him when he gets close enough (this is much more recent)
  • listening as Daddy walks you around the house, telling you about everything around you
  • making funny noises/faces at you and watching your face light up with that beautiful smile and usually a giggle too
  • watching you play - you're SO interested in your toys, especially on your bouncer - full of smiles + laughs
  • reading you books at night - you only like the bright animals and pictures and usually just try to grab the pages
  • cuddling with you after you're done eating for the night - because you're so peaceful. i love listening to your little breaths as you rest on my shoulder
  • kissing you good night and setting you in your crib - so peaceful and sweet

Ok - I apologize for the extensive list, we just love you Adilyn Rose Powers. I promise to get 6 month photos up this week!

We were supposed to go to the Dr. for her 6 month appointment (+ shots), but had to reschedule for later this month.  My Great Aunt Mary had a stroke suddenly and is now paralyzed on her left side and unable to speak.  We went to visit her at the Nursing home yesterday afternoon - so the Dr. was delayed.  We're just praying that she stays comfortable - not experiencing any pain and that the Lord takes her quickly if this is her time.  She has always been a vibrant, life of the party kind of person and I've enjoyed getting to know her a little better over the past few years.

During our trip to remember to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre - Great Aunt Mary on the far left.

Oh, I also have to say that I had a little internal battle - about whether to keep updating this blog. I was feeling like I'm so behind all of the time and I just write trivial little things and post some pictures - doesn't seem like anyone would be too sad if I stopped.  Kind of funny since I used to think blogging was so weird/pointless - before I started doing it myself.  Now I'm even reading others' blogs - friends and even people that I don't necessarily know. I think I just have an interest in other peoples' lives - though that may play out negatively in my guilty pleasure of some reality TV shows...
I'm just realizing that if nothing else, this is a great way to document our time as a family and the first year of Adilyn's life.  Knowing me, my memories will fade much more quickly than these words will...
So whether you're interested or not, I will continue to blog! :)

4th for the 1st time

Well, now that we're back to work with slightly tanned skin and slightly smaller bags under our eyes, thought I should update on the 4th of July weekend. While I forgot to get Adi a special 4th of July outfit or onesie saying "Baby's first 4th of July"...we did do our best to enjoy the weather, spend time with family and friends and just relax while celebrating our freedom. Warning - lots of pictures to come...

well this was actually from a couple of weeks ago - we went for an impromptu picnic in Plymouth! Adi did lots of walking and talking and stopped a lot of people passing by with her smile. Now I know how it feels to be a PROUD parent :)

Adilyn LOVES playing in her bouncey seat now! She usually gets tired of it after about 15 minutes though and wants out.

On Saturday, we went to Excelsior and walked around the lake.  It was pretty warm, but it was nice to be in the sun! Adi was a trooper and chatted with us along the way.

Had to take some pictures along the way - this was the best 'photo shoot' we could get with the wiggle worm...

Adilyn just LOVES walking with Daddy now!

and Mommy LOVES giving you kisses!

We stopped for some ice cream in Excelsior too - I think Adi was hoping for a taste...

First dip in the water...that wasn't her bath :)  She seemed to like this a lot more, probably because her head wasn't getting wet.

She got used to it pretty quickly - and kept wiggling her toes and pushing them into the sand.

Our little beach bum...Adi took a little nap under the canopy for a bit

We were matchy :)

After a long weekend in the outdoors, she was pooped - and had a little sun on her nose to prove it!

I realized I didn't take any pictures on the actual 4th of July, but we were too busy spending time with friends.  Plus - it wasn't much different than any other weekend in the sun, since we didn't keep her up to watch fireworks anywhere.  Though Dan and I were able to catch a peak of the show one of the neighbors put on from the comfort of our living room couch.

Hope you all had a fun, safe and relaxing 4th!  Short week for me - nothing like coming back after a 4 day weekend yesterday!
