one day at a time....x22

Well. I am a little ashamed to say that August is almost over - and I haven't posted anything in a while.  Looking back, it was only a couple of blogs ago that I posted Adi's 6 month pictures.  Well, lucky for you - you can compare her growth/development in that time with the 7 month pictures below.

We've been SO busy this month - between my travels for work and summer life in MN.  Here are a few highlights...

Dan was solo with Adi for a few days while I traveled to Bentonville, AR for work (Aug 1-3).  This was the longest period of time I was away from Adi.  While it was hard on me, it went quickly and she smiled at me when I got home - so I felt confident that she hadn't forgotten her Mommy! :)  On the 2nd night, Dan reported that she was "a lot of work" - so I think it was good for both of us to realize what each other is so busy doing every evening and appreciating each other even more for it.  Dan then had a bachelor party that weekend, so we were only together for about an evening and a half day before he left - I spent time with my family and getting caught up on laundry.
The next week, I had to travel to Brainerd, MN for a Managers' offsite for work for another 3 days.  This time, Adilyn spent some time with G+G Peltier and G+G Powers to help Daddy focus on the crazy markets.  We all survived and I got home Thursday afternoon and spent some QT with Adi.  The next day, I finished up laundry and got packed up for the weekend.  On Friday afternoon, we headed to a wedding - one of Dan's HS friends and then went straight to Spicer, MN to our friends' cabin. It was a great, relaxing, entertaining time - away from technology (mostly).  It was perfect timing for us as a family and we just loved spending time with some pretty incredible people.  I couldn't locate my camera for most of it, so I only have one picture for now - the men with their babies playing Bocce.

Last week flew by - being in the office for my first (almost) full week led to late nights and early mornings.  We rounded out the week by spending some time with our small group from Church on Saturday and getting out to enjoy the weather in the evening. G+G Powers volunteered to come down and watch Adilyn while Dan & I went biking (thanks Ben & Jenn)!  It was nice to do something that we don't normally do and enjoy the PERFECT weather!  We went out to dinner after and quickly realized how lame we were - since we couldn't come up with another activity for the two of us to do to maximize Adi's time with G+G...so, we headed home :)  Oh well maybe next time we'll plan ahead a little better and catch a movie or meet up with you? :)

Other than that, we've been trying our best to cherish the summer evenings and enjoy time as a family, now that we're all home.
We've been a little slow in introducing Adi to solids - but finally started a new grain this week - oatmeal.  She seems to like it a little better than she was liking her rice cereal. We also got some peas, so we'll have to try those soon and see what she thinks!

Lately, Adilyn has been showing us more of her personality & her skills...
  • still loves to stand up while holding onto your fingers/hands
  • starting to pull herself up when given the opportunity (surface low enough for her to use)
  • up on her hands and knees and bouncing around
  • crawling herself backwards when on her tummy
  • sits up with ease
  • stands up at her table toy for long periods of time without help (until she randomly lets go and does 'trust falls' with us to catch her)
  • almost always has to be facing out (to the world) when you hold her
  • quite the giggle machine - especially when Mommy does cartwheels for her in the house
  • even more of a chatter box - making noises almost constantly during the evenings especially
    • starting to shriek (out of joy) while playing or just randomly
SO much fun! Sorry for those we haven't been able to connect with much this summer - please reach out to us to get together when you're able! we miss you!

Adi's first bites

Ok - sorry this is delayed. Unfortunately, I've been in lovely Bentonville, AR for business since Monday AM. We had a fun weekend -busy and hot, but fun!

I promised to post pictures of Adi's first bites of rice cereal - so here they are.  She did pretty well. She wasn't so sure about it at first, but got the hang of it pretty quickly. She started opening her mouth and leaning toward the spoon at the end of the experience.  It was pretty fun to watch her eat off of a spoon and crazy to think that she'll be eating "real" food in no time!

Wasn't quite sure about that mushy stuff on a spoon...

But Daddy flew the airplane in for the first landing!

Now Mommy gives it a try...

Then I kind of wanted to play my spoon and didn't really want to eat more...

we love petting Cade from my high chair now too!
