Dan and I continue to be amazed at how quickly Adilyn has changed from a helpless 3lb 11oz girl, hooked up to monitors and tubes in the Hospital to a chunky (by her standards), chatty, friendly, happy 6 month old. I didn't think it was possible, but I love her more than I could have even imagined when I first met her.
Adi is very busy these days...here's a glimpse into the joy we experience daily because of you, little one...
- waking you up in the morning (because you're SUCH a good sleeper at night)
- watching you stretch and slowly open your eyes - only to smile once you see our faces
- feeling your warm little hands cling to me when i pick you up out of the crib since you're still kind of waking up
- seeing you smile and usually hearing a little giggle as you bats her eyes at us while we change your diaper
- 'wasting' time in the mornings while i cuddle with you - just because i can, before i HAVE to leave for work, even though i'm almost always 'late'
- listening to you 'chat' and/or suck on your toys all the way to daycare
- laughing as you arch your back as soon as you hear/see me start to unbuckle your car seat to bring you in to daycare
- listening as a proud mama while the daycare ladies give me your report for the day. 9 times out of 10 '...oh she was great - happy, smiling and easy'.
- rushing home just so we can spend time together playing
- watching your eyes trace Cade's every movement around the living room - and reaching out to pet him when he gets close enough (this is much more recent)
- listening as Daddy walks you around the house, telling you about everything around you
- making funny noises/faces at you and watching your face light up with that beautiful smile and usually a giggle too
- watching you play - you're SO interested in your toys, especially on your bouncer - full of smiles + laughs
- reading you books at night - you only like the bright animals and pictures and usually just try to grab the pages
- cuddling with you after you're done eating for the night - because you're so peaceful. i love listening to your little breaths as you rest on my shoulder
- kissing you good night and setting you in your crib - so peaceful and sweet
Ok - I apologize for the extensive list, we just love you Adilyn Rose Powers. I promise to get 6 month photos up this week!
We were supposed to go to the Dr. for her 6 month appointment (+ shots), but had to reschedule for later this month. My Great Aunt Mary had a stroke suddenly and is now paralyzed on her left side and unable to speak. We went to visit her at the Nursing home yesterday afternoon - so the Dr. was delayed. We're just praying that she stays comfortable - not experiencing any pain and that the Lord takes her quickly if this is her time. She has always been a vibrant, life of the party kind of person and I've enjoyed getting to know her a little better over the past few years.
During our trip to remember to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre - Great Aunt Mary on the far left.
Oh, I also have to say that I had a little internal battle - about whether to keep updating this blog. I was feeling like I'm so behind all of the time and I just write trivial little things and post some pictures - doesn't seem like anyone would be too sad if I stopped. Kind of funny since I used to think blogging was so weird/pointless - before I started doing it myself. Now I'm even reading others' blogs - friends and even people that I don't necessarily know. I think I just have an interest in other peoples' lives - though that may play out negatively in my guilty pleasure of some reality TV shows...
I'm just realizing that if nothing else, this is a great way to document our time as a family and the first year of Adilyn's life. Knowing me, my memories will fade much more quickly than these words will...
So whether you're interested or not, I will continue to blog! :)
I'm interested =) I like checking in with you three and keeping updated that way....PLUS have you heard of blog to print? There is a website, you can turn it into a book fairly easily. That's one of the only motivators I have sometimes for keeping on keeping on with mine - I know I'll never do memory books and I figure it's an easy way to keep up somewhat. I'm really behind too, if that helps any =)
