on the move!

Traveling for work again...so this will be a quick one; but it's just getting ridiculous how little time I have to update - and some major stuff has been happening!

Adilyn is officially CRAWLING! That's right. It all started about 2 weeks ago (almost to the day). I set her on our bed while I put some laundry away and when I turned around, she had definitely moved significant distances - ok, she was still on the bed, so she hadn't gone that far...but she was chasing after my watch (she likes shiny things).
Ever since, Dan and I have been trying to get her to crawl more - moving toys in front of her or ourselves to entice her.  She is definitely staying true to her personality and doing things on her own time.  Most of the time, she would just stare at us and sit herself down to play.  This weekend, however, she started moving - much more.  She's been crawling around the living room - playing with her toys, pulling herself up on various items and exploring her surroundings.  She's had a little harder time crawling when she's in her cozy sleepers since the wood floors don't give her much traction - but it sure is fun to watch!

Two weekends ago, we had nursery duty at Church and while we were in there, she pulled herself up on one of thoes toy carts and started walking behind it.  She took quite a few steps without falling - though she did have some bigger spills too.

It was pretty amazing to watch and we are having a blast watching our very little girl become more mobile!

We spent last weekend celebrating Dan's 28th birthday - so close to 30!! We went out to dinner and a movie together on Friday night while Grandma Powers babysat (thanks!).  Saturday we hung out around the house and helped my sister move some of her belongings out of the townhouse.  Sunday we went to Church and had a nice lazy day around the house, watching football and just spending time together as a fam - it was pretty great. :)

I promise to post some more pictures of the peanut soon - but had to get an update out there for now!

8 months

Just a quick update with Adilyn's 8 month pictures - we actually did take these on September 12th - just a little delayed in posting.

Starting to pull myself up on EVERYTHING I can...and I kind of like playing on my own...sometimes :)

just thought this one was kind of a funny face...like 'why do we have to do this, Mom'?

and this pretty accurately depicts Adi's tendencies - standing up, grabbing something and on the move!

Fun Note - I'm starting to pack up some of Adi's 3 month clothes now (for a couple reasons).
1. They are getting too short
2. The weather is turning a little cooler here - so she doesn't have much need for sundresses!

Also - a fun video to check out if you're interested. Hopefully the link works!

photo fun

Alright folks - get ready for some picture updates...

I really liked eating peas - but I think I liked playing with them more!

I don't think I'm big enough for this thing yet Mom & Dad...
Dad loves to help me go down the slide!

I think I'd rather climb up it though...

(this one's older) playing at the Weis' cabin a few weeks back

(Weis Cabin) - the boys are a little more active...

Also a little older...some friends taking a walk to DQ on a nice summer day (except it was HOT and we were all sweating)...Things sure do look different for the DUPI boys - wives, dogs & strollers

Daddy thought it'd be funny to make it look like I'm climbing on my own!

...are you guys sure about this?

Ok Dad, real funny - now time to get me down!

Peeking through..

we spent some time at the Minneapolis Sculpture Gardens over Labor Day weekend. Daddy was pretty adventurous with me - and I had a lot of fun!

Playing at the beach in Wayzata over Labor Day weekend

Picnic at the Beach - I really liked scooting around on my own!

Ready to support the Vikings for their first game of the Season!

Little disappointed with the outcome!
Hope you're all enjoying this WARM September day!

less-labored days

Summer is officially winding down - or over for most who have returned to school or sent their kids there this week...I have to say, it all feels very similar for our household - work continues the same.  Although I will say this weather has been AMAZING! I know everyone is probably shaking their heads and fists as me for saying that, but I've loved this somewhat cooler streak.  This is definitely my ideal type of weather - long sleeves & shorts.  One exciting part about summer being 'over' is that I am hoping it means more quality time with you all, friends! I know how busy summer gets for everyone - so I'm expecting to have some more visitors as the temperature drops!
We've been doing our best to take advantage of it in the evenings by taking walks - which Cade happens to appreciate as well.

We were able to go visit our friends Brad + Lisa at the hospital yesterday to meet their new little beauty, Alli Rae! She's a doll and I'm excited for her and Adi to become fast friends - bonded by their DUPI family.  Now there are officially 3 DUPI girl babies - we're catching up to you boys!

I'll update with some pictures as soon as I have enough time to do another upload - but wanted to provide an update on the past Holiday weekend.  We didn't have much planned for the weekend, and were pretty pumped to spend some much needed quality family time relaxing and just enjoying where we are and the time we have.
We were able to spend some time lounging around the house, playing with the puppy, visiting with family, car shopping (sort of), laying in the grass, enjoying the beach, walking to Starbucks, having a picnic, soaking up the sun and most of all, enjoying one another.  It was a great, relaxing, long weekend - and now we're almost through another week! Hard to believe, but time flies these days. Adilyn is almost 8 months old!  She is as active as ever...
-Starting to scoot (maybe kind of crawl) forward toward toys and people (even other kids at daycare)
-Ate green peas 3 times
-Eating oatmeal on a regular basis
-Eating at least 5 ounces at each feeding (usually in addition to her solids) **Crazy to think she used to eat less than 1 ounce each feeding and it was an accomplishment**
-Chatting a LOT
-Forming sounds that sometimes seem like they are words (hi, no, yeah)
-Forming sounds that definitely are NOT words, so much as high pitched squeals of delight
-STILL chewing on everything (without any teeth showing yet)
-Trying to make a razz noise with her tongue
-Showing her strength by trying to stand whenever possible
-Growing out of her 3 month size clothes (I've had to start to pack them away and am kind of sad about it for some reason)

I promise to update with pictures from our most recent adventures as soon as I can.
By the way, Dan just told me that the blog has been "really good lately"...just goes to show that someone isn't quite up to date! :)
