less-labored days

Summer is officially winding down - or over for most who have returned to school or sent their kids there this week...I have to say, it all feels very similar for our household - work continues the same.  Although I will say this weather has been AMAZING! I know everyone is probably shaking their heads and fists as me for saying that, but I've loved this somewhat cooler streak.  This is definitely my ideal type of weather - long sleeves & shorts.  One exciting part about summer being 'over' is that I am hoping it means more quality time with you all, friends! I know how busy summer gets for everyone - so I'm expecting to have some more visitors as the temperature drops!
We've been doing our best to take advantage of it in the evenings by taking walks - which Cade happens to appreciate as well.

We were able to go visit our friends Brad + Lisa at the hospital yesterday to meet their new little beauty, Alli Rae! She's a doll and I'm excited for her and Adi to become fast friends - bonded by their DUPI family.  Now there are officially 3 DUPI girl babies - we're catching up to you boys!

I'll update with some pictures as soon as I have enough time to do another upload - but wanted to provide an update on the past Holiday weekend.  We didn't have much planned for the weekend, and were pretty pumped to spend some much needed quality family time relaxing and just enjoying where we are and the time we have.
We were able to spend some time lounging around the house, playing with the puppy, visiting with family, car shopping (sort of), laying in the grass, enjoying the beach, walking to Starbucks, having a picnic, soaking up the sun and most of all, enjoying one another.  It was a great, relaxing, long weekend - and now we're almost through another week! Hard to believe, but time flies these days. Adilyn is almost 8 months old!  She is as active as ever...
-Starting to scoot (maybe kind of crawl) forward toward toys and people (even other kids at daycare)
-Ate green peas 3 times
-Eating oatmeal on a regular basis
-Eating at least 5 ounces at each feeding (usually in addition to her solids) **Crazy to think she used to eat less than 1 ounce each feeding and it was an accomplishment**
-Chatting a LOT
-Forming sounds that sometimes seem like they are words (hi, no, yeah)
-Forming sounds that definitely are NOT words, so much as high pitched squeals of delight
-STILL chewing on everything (without any teeth showing yet)
-Trying to make a razz noise with her tongue
-Showing her strength by trying to stand whenever possible
-Growing out of her 3 month size clothes (I've had to start to pack them away and am kind of sad about it for some reason)

I promise to update with pictures from our most recent adventures as soon as I can.
By the way, Dan just told me that the blog has been "really good lately"...just goes to show that someone isn't quite up to date! :)
